If porn has a narrative–and it certainly seems to–it also has pull. Some of us watch and say “That, is what want to do.”
–That is what i want to do is easy to confuse with “I wish that were me,” but the two differ, at least for me (who ever I am).
This power of this pull might be articulated this way: That is very much what I want to do. I want to do that badly (or even “so badly.”
The moralist says: is that o.k.?,
But contemplating the wrongness of it–it, porn, it, wanting something badly–is now part of considering the mastery of what calibrates it.
Here, though, the question is why some want to do it well, with a sense of mastery.
