muntrem: unfinished and forthcoming writing of

losing what no one else is trying to win one

Of the smartest people who ever played Ultimate Frisbee in Boston, Zaz has to be one of the most smart.

For big throws, solving crosswords and assessing the value of a future Scottish breakfast that won’t be served to you now,  you want Zaz around.  But if you are running up Pete’s Hill with Bill, Moons, and Douglas, Zaz’s absence is a blessing. Cause of the four teammates who will most crush you running up (and down, and back up) Pete’s Hill, Steve, Bill and Doug are three of the four.  And Zaz is the fourth.  (Sorry Jim, but this is not flat track.)

For 97′ nationals Zaz sends in the team write up as a roster of acronyms made from DoG

One player

Dines on Gruel

Another

Drives off Girls

And Jim

Details own Greatness

It was pretty funny (unless you were the Drives off Girls guy, obviously), and all stellar Zaz.

There are other stories, lots of ’em, about playing with Death or Glory.  And not all are about stuff like Jordan being admonished  over an airplane PA  for smoking in the bathroom, or what Moons said at 14-14 of the ’98 final, or why, driving through Wisconsin at 3:00 A.M. offered reasonable evidence towards the theory Bick and John Bar proffer that the three stupidest guys on the team can be found in this rented truck.
